Satyendra Dubey-A Real Hero

Satyendra Dubey was a project Director of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).He was fighting against corruption in the Golden Quadrilateral highway project ,He was murdered in Gaya,Bihar in 27 November 2003.

Childhood-
          Satyendra Dubey was burn in 1973 at the village of sahpur in the siwan distric of Bihar india.His father name Bageshwari Dubey and mother name Phulamati Devi.There was five girls and two boys in his family.His father was worked in a sugar mill.

Education-
          Satyendra Dubey completed his school education at the gang baksh kanodiya High school in sahpur,after that satyendra went to the Allahabad for his higher education.When he graduated in 1990,he was admitted in the Indian institute of technology (IIT) Kanpur.He did his M.Tech in civil Engg. from Banaras Hindu university in 1996.He was the first person from Sahpur ever to do this.

Professional Life-
          Satyendra Dubey was graduated from most prestigious technical school of the india.Satyendra could have found a highly paid job with a corporation,but he wanted to do something to help his country,so he passed the Indian Engineering Service (IEC)in 1996.He was selected for the Assistant Project Directors post in National Highway Authority of India(NHAI)at koderma,Jharkhand.He was responsible for the new highway which is build by the Indian government as a Golden Quadrilateral(GQ)Corridor project.The GQ corridor project was 14,000 kilometers long and will cost around $US 14 billion.Satyendra had rebuild 6 k.m.of the road from a contractor because contractor had not build the road properly and he was suspended three of his engineers,because they were doing financial irregularities in the project.

Exposing corruption and letter to the Prime Minister-
          At the beginning of the project ,the Govt.had made a strict guideline for the bidding process .According to the guideline contracts were given only that companies which used up to date equipment and his employed were well trained staff,but dubey found that the contract firm has been subcontracting the actual work to smaller low technology groups,which controlled by mafia . Dubey wrote to the Director of NHAI,but he was not doing any action,then satyendra directly wrote a letter to the Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpeyee and  also send a copy to the chairman of the Highway Authority.He was not sign the letter but he attached a personal bio-data ,so that the matter would be taken more seriously and and deposit a request to kept his identity secret.He soon received a letter from the "chief vigilance officer" at the Highway Authority reprimanding him for breaking the rules by directly communicating with the Prime Minister.
He wrote a second letter in reply saying that he had been only trying to make sure the project was as successful as possible.He also said he knew that his identity had been leaked because he had been "exposed to undesirable pressers and threats". 

Murder-
         on November 27,2003,satyendra was returning from a wedding in Varanasi,and called his driver to meet him at the station .He reached Gaya railway station at three in the morning,but the driver was not come to the station,then he called him,then driver tell him the car was not able to come because of a battery malfunction.Satyendra decided to take a rickshaw for going home.After some time he did not reach home,his driver went to look for him and found him dead by the side of the road in suburb of A.P.colony.He had shot.
The news ignited tremendous public hue and cry.The meter was raised in parliament,and the Prime Minister shifted the onus of investigation from the Bihar police to the CBI.The CBI registered a case against unknown persons under 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 302 (murder)of Indian penal code and various provision under Arms act on December 14 2003.
  
The Investigation-

         In investigations, the CBI interrogated the rickshaw puller Pradeep Kumar who was caught using Dubey's stolen cell phone. The mobile phone was switched off for about a fortnight after the murder, but then Kumar called his 'second wife' in Kolkata, following which the CBI traced the rickshaw puller to his slum in Gaya.Two other suspects, Sheonath Sah and Mukendra Paswan, were questioned by the CBI. They were found dead from poisoning on February 1, 2004, within within 25 hours of the CBI questioning. Sah's father lodged an FIR against the CBI with the Bihar Police, but CBI Director Umashanker Mishra called their deaths a suicide in a press meeting a few days later.The CBI concluded its investigations and four persons were charge-sheeted on September 3, 2004. Based on testimony by Pradeep Kumar, who was his rickshaw puller, the event was presented as an attempted robbery. Because Satyendra put up a fight about giving up his briefcase, he was shot.The person accused of actually shooting Dubey with a country-made pistol was Mantu Kumar, son of Lachhu Singh, of Village Katari, Gaya district. Accomplices with him included Uday Kumar, Pinku Ravidas and Shravan Kumar.

Legacy-
         Dubey's murder drew several protests in India and abroad, especially by the media. Student and Alumni bodies of IITs took the lead in raising this issue. S. K. Dubey Foundation for Fight Against Corruption in India was launched to systematically fight against corruption. IIT Kanpur instituted an annual award in his name, Satyendra K Dubey Memorial Award, to be given to an IIT alumnus for displaying highest professional integrity in upholding human values. Arvind Kejriwal, a recipient of this award, went on to receive the Ramon Magsaysay Award as well. Indian Express had also announced a fellowship in the name of Dubey.
Satyendra Dubey was recognised posthumously by several awards, which included the Whistleblower of the year award from the London-based Index on Censorship, the Transparency International's Annual integrity award and the Service Excellence award from the All India Management Association.
  
         Satyendra make a way for fighting against corrouption and he is Real Hero,but some questions did not solved 'how to someone give poison in CBI questedy? and how to leake satyendr's identity? and when letter was writtern for the Prime Minister ,then how to P.M.O office sent it to the the Ministry for Road Transport.
